The Albanian Institute for International Studies and the Center for Interfaith Cooperation organized today in Elbasan the second seminar for the establishment of the Institute for Religious Studies and Cooperation. This project is powered by Porticus. ELBASAN, ALBANIA

Event took place this afternoon in the city of Elbasan at Fish Citit premises where the Interfaith Cooperation Center, Rozafa Business and the municipality of Elbasan together with entrepreneurs, people of politics, art and sport came together to donate financial aid for the repair of the damages, caused by the earthquake. His address The President of the Interfaith Cooperation Center Dr. Arben Ramkaj and Envoy in Albania of EML European Muslim League, started it with a prayer for the residents affected by the tragedy as well as for the attendees who have become part of the contributions being made to those families left homeless. Interfaith Cooperation Center - emphasized Dr. Ramkaj will contribute $ 10 000 It is important - stressed - Dr. Arben Ramkaj that politics, like the religious communities, be united in these difficult days for Albanians. GENOVA, ITALY

A year ago a bridge collapsed in Genoa,Italy  and 43 people died. Some even Muslim. Today, 12 months later, in front of the President of the Italian Republic, the Prime Minister and many Ministers, the President of the EML Amb. Alfredo Maiolese have been invited to speak. This confirms the right work that all members are doing to make it important and reliable the organization.

BRUXELLES, BELGIUM

The European Muslim League has been watching events in Indian-administered Kashmir with growing concern this week and urges the European Union to intervene in an effort to calm the situation as we enter the blessed period of the religious festival of Eid al-Adha.

We are also concerned about the safety and human rights of those Muslims living in Kashmir where hundreds of thousands of Indian troops now occupy the region.

All forms of communications have been cut off and we now learn that the region's political leaders are under house arrest making it virtually impossible for families from the large Kashmiri diaspora in Europe to make contact with their loved ones.

Until Article 370 was revoked earlier this month by the Indian government, the constitution protected the status of the Indian-controlled state of Jammu and Kashmir.

Now that decision is being challenged in India's Supreme Court as some lawyers say the current action is in breach of United Nations resolutions and regulations. For instance, the UN Security Council Resolution 47, means India is obliged to establish a coalition government to work with the UN nominated Plebiscite Administrator.

Apart from ensuring India works within the UN framework of rules and regulations, EML also urges the international community to intervene as concern for the safety of Muslims in Kashmir is heightened.

Both the nuclear powers of Pakistan and India have engaged in two futile wars over Kashmir in the past and it is important that today both sides tone down the current rhetoric in preference for peaceful alternatives.

We feel it is important for the international community to rally around both sides in order to find a peaceful solution and a working diplomatic solution to help restore normal relations between Pakistan and Indian for the benefit of the 12 million Kashmiris living there.

Finally, it is important to emphasise that the Kashmiri right for self determination is enshrined in international law and the people living there should determine their own future.

The European Muslim League is happy to wish everyone Eid Al-Adh’ha AL-Mubarak after the end of the Hajj in the month of Thul Hijjah.

How ever you will mark the occasion of Eid AlAdh’ha AlMubara, EML sends out a message of peace and harmony to all Muslims and those of other faiths and none on this blessed occasion.

For many, Eid will begin on Sunday evening and end on Thursday, although dates may vary, but we hope the spirit of the occasion will extend to the coming year in terms of promoting unity, peace, security, safety and happiness.

Sadly, the world is a deeply troubled place from East to West especially in the predominantly Muslim lands of Syria, Yemen and Indian-administered Kashmir. We would therefore urge Muslims, whoever you are, wherever you worship, to practice the spirit of Eid every day and pray for peace.

The coming days will give an opportunity to those Muslims who are able to, to give generously to charity to help those suffering hardships worldwide. As well as charitable donations, we remind everyone that charity can also involve nothing more than a kind thought, word or deed.

BRIDGETOWN, BARBADOS

Our Ambassador of Peace Suleiman Bulbulia had partecipated in Barbados to an important  Abrahamic Faiths Conference. Organized by the Codrington College and the Ministry of Religious Affairs the week started off with a peace walk from the masjid in Bridgetown where the Minister and close to 300 young Barbadians assembled. They were informed about the history of Islam and Muslims in Barbados and the role of the masjid and its characteristics. Everyone then walked to the Synagogue then to the Cathedral and then to Queens Park for a rally. A great day of Peace and armony.

Eml representative Dr. Arben Ramkaj has taken part as a delegate at  the 41st session of the opening of the UN Human Rights Council in Geneva.
The EML supports peace and Human rights and is very glad that UN confirms this role worldwide. In the last years EML is steadily engaged in defending minorities by means of diplomatic ways.

The month of Ramadan has arrived and the President Amb.Alfredo Maiolese and Secretary-General Yvonne Ridley on behalf of everyone at the European Muslim League including our global ambassadors posted around the world, wish you all blessings, peace and joy. 

For Muslims everywhere, this glorious month presents us all with a time to reflect on our past, present and future as well as increase our awareness of God.

Ramadan involves fasting, prayers, charitable giving and doing good deeds usually in increased measure compared to the rest of the year.

This Ramadan we should all make an effort to reach out to those of other faiths and none in the spirit of togetherness. Muslims are under threat from rising Islamophobia while our Jewish cousins continue to feel the pain of anti-semitism and persecution of Christians continues.

In Europe, in particular, the rise of the far right continues to cause concern as they spread their toxic messages of hate and loathing.

Other minority groups are also being affected by hate crimes, targeted for nothing more than appearing to be different. That is why, in these trouble times, where worshippers are attacked for their faith while others are being set upon because of their skin colour, nationality or culture we must come together in the spirit of unity.

Building bridges and strengthening bonds should be the aim of European Muslims during this most holy of months. EML hopes this message of peace, love and understanding is embraced by all Muslims as we reach out to all of our neighbours regardless of their beliefs.

COLOMBO , SRI LANKA

Today the members of the European Muslim League express their shock and horror over the Easter Sunday massacre in Sri Lanka.

Once again worshippers have been targeted in their house of prayer. Last month it was Muslims in mosques in New Zealand and today our Christian brothers and sisters in Sri Lanka who are the victims of one of the most depraved acts of terror experienced in recent times.

EML stands in solidarity with Christian communities around the world who, like us, are reeling from the news that more than 200 Christian worshippers and hotel guests on the island nation have become victims of terror. Our thoughts are with their families as well as with the survivors.

With the death toll of 207 expected to rise and more than 450 injured, it is now emerging that dozens of overseas visitors are among the casualties; people of faith and no faith caught up in a despicable act of terrorism.

Our message today is one of peace because by rejecting all violence and the hate that goes with it we want those responsible to know they will never win.

EML will be sending this message of solidarity and sympathy directly to Ranil Wickremesinghe, Sri Lanka's prime minister and Archbishop of Columbo Malcolm Ranjith.

Our heartfelt prayers also go out to those in America, Denmark, China, Japan, Pakistan, Morocco, India and Bangladesh caught up in this despicable act while visiting Sri Lanka and to their families and friends back home.

SKOPJE, MACEDONIA

Our member in Albania Dr. Arben Ramkaj was Invited to an International Workshop on "Strategic Communications and Messaging" hold in Macedonia.

The workshop is organized by Hedayah Countering Violent Extremism and The Hague Center for Strategic Studies. The invited are well acquainted with these issues from Southeast European countries and experts from various organizations.

The purpose of this conference was the gathering of experts and civil society actors to discuss the challenges and security of each country about CVE.

BERN, SWITZERLAND

In a particular historical period, where natural disasters, earthquakes, floods, environmental dangers are the new problems of this century, EML has decided to help civil society, and institutions and those in need with specific Civil Protection activities by Muslim volunteers who with the motto:

" Volunteers at the service of humanity" intervene in the needs of any population.

The application fields are: 

forecasting, prevention and rescue activities in view of or during natural disasters, catastrophes or other similar events, as well as training in the aforementioned subject; 

supervision or custody of movable or immovable property of public bodies or collective bodies; 

first aid service in the event of injuries or injuries;

environmental Protection; 

animal protection;

participation in cultural, sporting and recreational initiatives aimed at promoting a better quality of life.

BRATISLAVA - SLOVAKIA

Our representive in Albania Dr. Arben Ramkaj invited by OCSE. More than 300 high-level participants including political representatives, national counter-terrorism co-ordinators and experts from the OSCE’s participating States and Partners for Co-operation, as well as representatives from international and sub-regional organizations, academics and civil society will meet in Bratislava on 25 and 26 March for the annual OSCE-wide Counter-Terrorism Conference.  

During the two-day conference participants will take stock of efforts to prevent and counter terrorism as well as violent extremism and radicalization that lead to terrorism (VERLT) in the OSCE area.

The European Muslim League engaged from many years in the prevention of conflicts is glad for this invitation and thanks the Secretary- General of Ocse and all the members for this important event. 

CHRISTCHURCH, NEW ZELAND

This morning we in Europe awoke to the horrific news that 49 Muslim worshippers had been killed and at least 20 more wounded in shootings at two mosques in Christchurch, New Zealand.

The European Muslim League extends its heartfelt sympathies and prayers to the 44,000-strong Muslim community living there as they struggle to come to terms with this shooting, the worst in the history of their country.

A man in his late twenties has already been charged with murder and will appear in court on Saturday morning in what police are treating as an extremist, right-wing terror attack.

We sincerely hope this horrific event does not deter Muslims and people of other faiths from going to their places of worship today or any other day. Everyone, no matter who they are or how they pray should be allowed to do it freely and without fear.

However, we would also add, that this crime is what happens when hate spirals out of control. EML would urge politicians of all stripes to be careful in their choice of language and rhetoric when speaking about or referring to minority groups here in Europe and elsewhere.

In the meantime we would urge people of faith and no faith to come together in a spirit of unity in memory of those who died as they worshipped in the two mosques in Christchurch, New Zealand. Peace, understanding and tolerance is needed today more than ever.

DAR ES SALAM , TANZANIA

Our Ambassador of Peace Sh. Prof. Hassan Chizenga visits the native Maasai of Tanzania. They, who have lived for centuries according to tribal traditions listen with interest to the religion of Allah. Many of them have accepted Islam. ABU DHABI EMIRATES

The Pope and the leading exponents of the international Islamic community gathered in Abu Dhabi to confirm the document of the Human Brotherhood. A historical document of great inspiration and concreteness written by Pope Francis and Grand Imam of Al-Azhar Ahmad Al-Tayyeb
A reference text that defines the principles of freedom and rights. A declaration of "enormous weight" because it takes away any future possibility of other interpretations and ambiguities.
No one can say that his is an interpretation of Islam or a national political necessity. From today, a principle shared by all is established.
