Siamo ancora umani?

Appello del Presidente della European Muslims League (Lega dei Musulmani Europei) ai Parlamentari e al Governo Italiano

Rivolgo a voi, parlamentari italiani e membri del governo, un ultimo ed accorato appello. Non restituirà la vita a coloro che sono già caduti, israeliani e palestinesi, ma può servire a salvarne altri.

Dopo le recenti dichiarazioni del Primo Ministro israeliano alle Nazioni Unite, non sembrano esserci più vie di mediazione diplomatica per fermare la distruzione di Gaza e l’assedio della Cisgiordania.

Mi rivolgo dunque al Presidente della Repubblica, Sergio Mattarella, uomo saggio ed equilibrato, e a voi tutti, deputati e senatori della Repubblica, perché almeno per un momento possiate mettere da parte interessi politici o strategici.

Siete credenti e laici, cristiani, ebrei, musulmani, buddisti, uomini e donne di cultura. La Torah insegna “Non uccidere”, il Vangelo ci ricorda “Beati gli operatori di pace, perché saranno chiamati figli di Dio”, il Corano ammonisce “Chi uccide una persona è come se avesse ucciso l’intera umanità e chi ne salva una è come se avesse salvato tutta l’umanità”, il Buddhismo afferma che “La vita è preziosa per tutti gli esseri. Colui che comprende questo non farà del male né causerà danno ad altri”, mentre la filosofia laica ricorda che l’umanità si misura nella difesa dei più deboli e non nel calcolo dell’utile immediato.

Per un istante lasciamo cadere le divisioni, e uniamoci per salvare un popolo.

L’Italia ha scelto di schierarsi con Stati Uniti e Israele. Non si tratta qui di condannare alleanze o rapporti internazionali: questi appartengono al piano politico e cambiano con i governi. Si tratta di affermare che, davanti alla distruzione totale di un popolo, devono prevalere la coscienza, la giustizia e l’umanità.

I governi passano, i ministri passano, i parlamentari passano. Un giorno anche noi, come ogni uomo e donna, ci presenteremo al cospetto dell’Altissimo. Non con i nostri incarichi, non con i nostri titoli, ma con le nostre azioni.

Il denaro, i palazzi, la ricchezza sono effimeri. Ciò che resta è la dignità, la compassione, la giustizia. La nostra cultura italiana non è servilismo verso potenze estere, ma è una tradizione millenaria di umanesimo, di valori, di libertà.

Milioni di persone in Italia e nel mondo sono scese in piazza gridando: “Fermiamo il genocidio!”. Non è solo diritto internazionale: è la coscienza di ciascuno di noi a imporci una risposta.

Avete mantenuto la rotta della lealtà politica verso alleati esterni e logiche di potere. Ma oggi non siete più chiamati a scegliere fra uomini o governi: siete chiamati a scegliere fra vita e morte, giustizia e ingiustizia.

Non rimanete indifferenti. Fermiamo insieme il genocidio. Almeno proviamoci. La storia vi ricorderà per questo.

The voice of the peoples and the responsibility of governments

All over the world, millions of citizens are taking to the streets to support Palestine and to defend the right of a people to live free and independent. Where governments act according to economic interests and the logic of power, the people show their ability to react with responsibility and dignity.

History reminds us that millions have given their lives for freedom and homeland, yet today the international community seems to neglect these sacrifices, choosing instead to follow the fluctuations of financial markets rather than the universal principles of human rights.

Some States have already recognized Palestine as a sovereign State, and others are now joining this just cause. Currently, 147 member States of the United Nations have formalized recognition, including many European countries. In recent months, Ireland, Norway, and Spain have taken this step, while other governments such as France, the United Kingdom, Canada, and Malta have announced that they will do so during the United Nations General Assembly in September 2025.

The European Muslims League stresses that remaining silent in the face of the genocide of the Palestinian people represents the defeat of international law, of freedom, and of democracy. There is only one solution: the creation of two free and independent States, Palestine and Israel, based on mutual recognition and respect for fundamental rights.

We believe that peace cannot be built on injustice: violence generates more violence, and there can be no stability or security until every people is granted its dignity and its right to life.

La voce dei popoli e la responsabilità dei governi

In tutto il mondo milioni di cittadini scendono in piazza per sostenere la Palestina e per difendere il diritto di un popolo a vivere libero e indipendente. Laddove i governi agiscono secondo interessi economici e logiche di potere, i popoli dimostrano la loro capacità di reagire con responsabilità e dignità.

La storia ci ricorda che milioni di persone hanno dato la vita per la libertà e la patria, eppure oggi la comunità internazionale sembra trascurare questi sacrifici, scegliendo invece di seguire le oscillazioni dei mercati finanziari piuttosto che i principi universali dei diritti umani.

Alcuni Stati hanno già riconosciuto la Palestina come Stato sovrano, e altri si stanno unendo a questa giusta causa. Attualmente 147 Paesi membri delle Nazioni Unite hanno formalizzato il riconoscimento, tra cui molti Stati europei. Negli ultimi mesi Irlanda, Norvegia e Spagna hanno compiuto questo passo, mentre altri governi come Francia, Regno Unito, Canada e Malta hanno annunciato che lo faranno durante l’Assemblea Generale delle Nazioni Unite di settembre 2025.

La European Muslims League sottolinea che restare in silenzio di fronte al genocidio del popolo palestinese rappresenta la sconfitta del diritto internazionale, della libertà e della democrazia. La soluzione rimane una sola: la nascita di due Stati liberi e indipendenti, Palestina e Israele, fondati sul riconoscimento reciproco e sul rispetto dei diritti fondamentali.

Noi crediamo che la pace non possa essere costruita sull’ingiustizia: la violenza genera altra violenza e non ci potrà essere stabilità o sicurezza finché ad ogni popolo non sarà riconosciuta la propria dignità e il proprio diritto alla vita.

The Voice of Algeria at the Security Council

The words spoken by the Ambassador of Algeria at the United Nations Security Council touched the hearts of millions. By repeating several times, “I apologize to the Palestinians for not having served peace, respect for human rights, and the salvation of the people,” he expressed the pain of those who recognize the impotence of the international community in the face of oppression.

The Qur’an reminds us: “And why should you not fight in the cause of Allah and for those oppressed men, women and children who say: ‘Our Lord, deliver us from this town whose people are oppressors, and appoint for us from Yourself a protector and appoint for us from Yourself a helper?’” (Surah An-Nisāʾ, 4:75).

Today we see Gaza devastated, thousands of innocents killed, and a people stripped of their land, their homes, and their dignity. The international community remains paralyzed by political and economic interests while the weakest pay the highest price.

The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said: “The best jihād is a word of truth before a tyrant ruler.” (Abu Dawud, Tirmidhi). He also said: “Whoever is killed defending his life, his wealth, or his family is a martyr.” (Bukhari, Muslim). These teachings remind us that submission to injustice is not acceptable and that human dignity must be defended even at the cost of life.

Many wonder why Arab and Muslim countries do not act decisively to support their Palestinian brothers. The absence of unity is painful and contradicts the call upon the Ummah to defend its oppressed.

The EML affirms clearly that the annihilation of a people is not a solution. Violence will never bring peace, and the cancellation of Hamas will not eradicate the problem. The only path forward remains the birth of a free and recognized Palestinian State alongside Israel, in a peaceful coexistence based on justice. Israel is not under threat of existence, but if ever it were, it would be the consequence of its own actions and political choices.

May Allah guide the leaders of the international community to rediscover justice and truth, for only then can authentic peace be born.

صوت الجزائر في مجلس الأمن

لقد لامست كلمات سفير الجزائر في مجلس الأمن التابع للأمم المتحدة قلوب الملايين. حيث كرر مرارًا قوله: «أعتذر للفلسطينيين لأنني لم أخدم السلام واحترام حقوق الإنسان وخلاص الشعب»، معبرًا عن ألم من يدرك عجز المجتمع الدولي أمام الظلم.

يذكرنا القرآن الكريم بقوله تعالى: ﴿وَمَا لَكُمْ لَا تُقَاتِلُونَ فِي سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ وَالْمُسْتَضْعَفِينَ مِنَ الرِّجَالِ وَالنِّسَاءِ وَالْوِلْدَانِ الَّذِينَ يَقُولُونَ رَبَّنَا أَخْرِجْنَا مِنْ هَذِهِ الْقَرْيَةِ الظَّالِمِ أَهْلُهَا وَاجْعَل لَّنَا مِن لَّدُنكَ وَلِيًّا وَاجْعَل لَّنَا مِن لَّدُنكَ نَصِيرًا﴾ (النساء: 75).

اليوم نرى غزة مدمَّرة، آلاف الأبرياء قُتلوا، وشعبًا جُرّد من أرضه وبيوته وكرامته. ويظل المجتمع الدولي مشلولًا بمصالح سياسية واقتصادية بينما يدفع الأضعف الثمن الأغلى.

قال النبي محمد ﷺ: «أفضل الجهاد كلمة حق عند سلطان جائر» (أبو داود، الترمذي). وقال أيضًا: «من قُتل دون نفسه أو ماله أو أهله فهو شهيد» (البخاري، مسلم). وهذه التعاليم تذكرنا بأن الاستسلام للظلم غير مقبول، وأن كرامة الإنسان يجب أن تُدافع حتى لو كان الثمن الحياة.

ويتساءل كثيرون: لماذا لا تتحرك الدول العربية والإسلامية بحزم لنصرة إخوانهم الفلسطينيين؟ إن غياب الوحدة مؤلم ويتعارض مع نداء الأمة للدفاع عن مستضعفيها.

إن رابطة المسلمين الأوروبيين تؤكد بوضوح أن إبادة شعب ليست حلًا، وأن العنف لن يجلب السلام، وأن إلغاء حماس لن يستأصل المشكلة. إن الطريق الوحيد يبقى في قيام دولة فلسطينية حرة ومعترف بها إلى جانب إسرائيل، في تعايش سلمي قائم على العدل. فإسرائيل ليست مهددة في وجودها، ولكن إن حدث ذلك يومًا فسيكون نتيجة أفعالها وخياراتها السياسية.

نسأل الله أن يهدي قادة المجتمع الدولي إلى استعادة العدل والحق، فبذلك وحده يمكن أن يولد سلام حقيقي.

Gaza Is Not a War: It Is the Tragedy of Civilians

When we speak of war, we usually imagine two armies facing each other, two opposing forces clashing on the battlefield. This is what happens in Ukraine, where the Russian and Ukrainian armies fight openly in a devastating but recognizable conflict. In Gaza, however, the reality is very different.

On one side stands the IDF, a regular army with advanced technology and unmatched military power in the region. On the other side, there is no real army, but rather Hamas fighters hidden in tunnels, far from direct confrontation. This imbalance means that those who fall under airstrikes and military operations are not combatants, but overwhelmingly civilians: families, women, children, and the elderly.

The images speak for themselves: entire neighborhoods erased, schools and hospitals struck, homes reduced to rubble. Daily life has collapsed, with no water, no electricity, and scarce essential goods. This is not a war in the classical sense, but a humanitarian tragedy of unprecedented scale that deserves to be recognized for what it truly is.

Europe and the international community cannot close their eyes to a reality in which there are not two armies in the field, but rather one army and a defenseless civilian population. To call it a “war” risks confusing the picture and justifying what is happening. Speaking with clarity is an act of justice for the victims and a moral duty for anyone who still believes in the dignity of human life.

Quando parliamo di guerra immaginiamo due eserciti che si fronteggiano, due forze contrapposte che si scontrano sul campo. Così accade in Ucraina, dove esercito russo ed esercito ucraino combattono apertamente in un conflitto devastante ma riconoscibile come guerra. A Gaza, invece, la realtà è molto diversa.

Da una parte vi è l’IDF, l’esercito regolare israeliano, con mezzi tecnologici avanzati e un potere militare senza paragoni nella regione. Dall’altra non vi è un vero esercito, ma miliziani di Hamas nascosti nei tunnel, lontani dallo scontro diretto. Questo squilibrio fa sì che a cadere sotto le bombe e le operazioni militari non siano i combattenti, ma soprattutto i civili: famiglie, donne, bambini, anziani.

Le immagini parlano da sole: interi quartieri cancellati, scuole e ospedali colpiti, case ridotte in macerie. La vita quotidiana è distrutta, manca l’acqua, manca l’energia elettrica, i beni di prima necessità scarseggiano. Non si tratta di una guerra in senso classico, ma di una tragedia umanitaria senza precedenti, che merita di essere riconosciuta per quello che è.

L’Europa e il mondo intero non possono chiudere gli occhi di fronte a una realtà in cui non vi sono due eserciti in campo, ma un esercito e una popolazione civile inerme. Parlare di “guerra” rischia di confondere e di giustificare ciò che accade. Dire le cose con chiarezza è un atto di giustizia verso le vittime e un dovere morale di chi crede ancora nella dignità della vita umana.

Lorsque nous parlons de guerre, nous imaginons généralement deux armées qui s’affrontent, deux forces opposées sur un champ de bataille. C’est ce qui se passe en Ukraine, où l’armée russe et l’armée ukrainienne se combattent ouvertement dans un conflit dévastateur mais reconnaissable comme une guerre. À Gaza, cependant, la réalité est tout autre.

D’un côté se trouve l’IDF, une armée régulière dotée de technologies avancées et d’une puissance militaire inégalée dans la région. De l’autre, il n’y a pas une véritable armée, mais des combattants du Hamas cachés dans des tunnels, loin de l’affrontement direct. Ce déséquilibre entraîne une conséquence dramatique : ceux qui tombent sous les bombardements et les opérations militaires ne sont pas les combattants, mais dans leur immense majorité des civils – familles, femmes, enfants et personnes âgées.

Les images parlent d’elles-mêmes : des quartiers entiers effacés, des écoles et des hôpitaux touchés, des maisons réduites en ruines. La vie quotidienne est anéantie, sans eau, sans électricité, avec des biens essentiels introuvables. Il ne s’agit pas d’une guerre au sens classique du terme, mais d’une tragédie humanitaire d’une ampleur sans précédent, qui doit être reconnue pour ce qu’elle est.

L’Europe et la communauté internationale ne peuvent pas fermer les yeux face à une réalité où il n’y a pas deux armées en présence, mais une armée face à une population civile sans défense. Parler de « guerre » risque de brouiller les faits et de justifier ce qui se déroule. Dire les choses avec clarté est un acte de justice envers les victimes et un devoir moral pour tous ceux qui croient encore à la dignité de la vie humaine.

Cuando hablamos de guerra, solemos imaginar dos ejércitos que se enfrentan, dos fuerzas opuestas combatiendo en el campo de batalla. Así ocurre en Ucrania, donde el ejército ruso y el ejército ucraniano luchan abiertamente en un conflicto devastador pero reconocible como guerra. En Gaza, sin embargo, la realidad es muy distinta.

De un lado está el IDF, un ejército regular con tecnología avanzada y un poder militar sin igual en la región. Del otro, no hay un verdadero ejército, sino combatientes de Hamas escondidos en túneles, lejos del enfrentamiento directo. Este desequilibrio hace que quienes caen bajo los bombardeos y las operaciones militares no sean combatientes, sino en su gran mayoría civiles: familias, mujeres, niños y ancianos.

Las imágenes hablan por sí solas: barrios enteros borrados, escuelas y hospitales atacados, hogares reducidos a escombros. La vida cotidiana está destruida, sin agua, sin electricidad y con bienes esenciales que escasean. No se trata de una guerra en el sentido clásico, sino de una tragedia humanitaria sin precedentes, que merece ser reconocida por lo que realmente es.

Europa y la comunidad internacional no pueden cerrar los ojos ante una realidad en la que no hay dos ejércitos en el terreno, sino un ejército frente a una población civil indefensa. Llamarlo “guerra” corre el riesgo de confundir y de justificar lo que está ocurriendo. Decir las cosas con claridad es un acto de justicia hacia las víctimas y un deber moral para todos los que aún creen en la dignidad de la vida humana.
