According to United Nations estimates, in 2025 more than 305 million people worldwide are in urgent need of humanitarian assistance due to conflicts, famine, and climate change. The wars in Sudan, Gaza, and Ukraine have displaced millions and caused countless civilian casualties. At the same time, food insecurity is relentlessly increasing, affecting around 280 million individuals, while famine devastates countries such as Sudan and Haiti.
Moreover, the planet is approaching the critical threshold of 1.5°C global warming, leading to increasingly severe consequences: droughts, floods, and natural disasters have already forced 90 million people to leave their homes.
In the face of these historic challenges, the European Muslim League (EML) calls on Muslims in Europe, as well as European institutions, to respond with solidarity, cooperation, and shared responsibility.
Islam reminds us that charity and support for those in need are fundamental duties. The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
“He is not a believer whose stomach is filled while the neighbor to his side goes hungry.” (Hadith – Sahih Bukhari)
In this spirit, the European Muslim community is called to do its part by contributing to humanitarian projects, supporting relief initiatives, and promoting a culture of peace and justice.
Solidarity is not only a religious principle but also a universal value that must guide our societies. The EML will continue to work to strengthen the role of European Muslims as active participants in building a fairer world, where no human being is left behind.
