Genova, 14 agosto 2026 – A otto anni dal crollo del Ponte Morandi, Genova si è nuovamente raccolta nel ricordo delle 43 persone che persero la vita il 14 agosto 2018, in una giornata dedicata alla memoria, alla vicinanza alle famiglie e alla responsabilità collettiva.
Alla commemorazione ha preso parte anche il Presidente della European Muslims League (EML), Dr. Alfredo Maiolese, intervenuto in rappresentanza della comunità musulmana e portando un messaggio rivolto all'intera cittadinanza, credenti e non credenti.
Nel suo intervento, il Presidente Maiolese ha ricordato come una tragedia di tale portata non possa essere confinata al passato, ma debba continuare a interrogare le istituzioni e la società sul valore della responsabilità, della sicurezza e della tutela della vita umana.
«La memoria non serve solo a custodire il passato, serve anche a proteggere il futuro», ha affermato.
Un pensiero particolare è stato rivolto alle 43 vittime e alle loro famiglie, il cui dolore continua a rappresentare una ferita profonda per Genova e per l'Italia.
Il Presidente EML ha inoltre richiamato il valore dell'unità nelle differenze, sottolineando che una comunità autenticamente solidale non dovrebbe ritrovarsi unita soltanto nei momenti della tragedia, ma riconoscersi quotidianamente nella comune appartenenza alla famiglia umana.
La diversità religiosa e culturale, in questa prospettiva, non deve essere considerata un limite, ma una ricchezza quando è accompagnata dal rispetto reciproco, dal dialogo e dalla condivisione delle responsabilità.
La partecipazione della European Muslims League alla commemorazione assume anche un significato interreligioso: davanti al dolore non esistono divisioni di fede, origine o cultura. Il rispetto della vita, la vicinanza a chi soffre e il dovere di costruire una società più sicura rappresentano valori capaci di unire tutti.
La European Muslims League rinnova la propria vicinanza alle famiglie delle 43 vittime e alla città di Genova, nella convinzione che commemorare significhi non soltanto ricordare chi non c'è più, ma assumersi la responsabilità di fare tutto ciò che è possibile affinché tragedie simili non si ripetano.

Genoa, 14 August 2026 – Eight years after the collapse of the Morandi Bridge, Genoa once again came together to remember the 43 people who lost their lives on 14 August 2018, in a day dedicated to remembrance, solidarity with the families, and collective responsibility.
The commemoration was also attended by the President of the European Muslims League (EML), Dr. Alfredo Maiolese, who spoke on behalf of the Muslim community and delivered a message addressed to the entire community, believers and non-believers alike.
In his address, President Maiolese recalled that a tragedy of such magnitude cannot be confined to the past, but must continue to challenge institutions and society to reflect on the importance of responsibility, safety, and the protection of human life.
“Remembrance is not only about preserving the past; it is also about protecting the future,” he stated.
A special thought was dedicated to the 43 victims and their families, whose pain continues to represent a profound wound for Genoa and for Italy.
The EML President also emphasized the value of unity in diversity, stressing that a truly supportive community should not come together only in moments of tragedy, but should recognize, every day, its shared belonging to the human family.
From this perspective, religious and cultural diversity should not be regarded as a limitation, but as an enrichment when accompanied by mutual respect, dialogue, and shared responsibility.
The participation of the European Muslims League in the commemoration also carries an interreligious significance: in the face of suffering, there are no divisions of faith, origin, or culture. Respect for life, solidarity with those who suffer, and the duty to build a safer society are values capable of bringing everyone together.
